Update from Chile

Over the past four years, Billy King has trained a total of 1100 people in Latin America through Christianity Explored evangelism conferences.  The training conferences have included 275 pastors, in 7 different Latin American countries.  Billy and his wife, Janet, just returned from his most recent trip to South America where he provided training in two additional countries:  Uruguay and Chile.

While in Chile, Billy had the opportunity to preach in two churches, as well as lead an evangelism conference featuring Christianity Explored. He preached on John 11, “The Raising of Lazarus – Why it Matters to All of Us.” Around 230 people total were in the two churches where Billy preached.

“One of the most strategic [conferences] that I have done to date,”

Billy said of the conference in Temuco. “There were 130 in attendance and most were pastors covering multiple denominations. Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian, and Pentecostal.” He continued, “There was even the Anglican Bishop for this part of Chile in attendance who I was told liked the teaching very much.”

Veteran SIM missionary Kep James reported that a group attending the conference has been studying Romans through Equipping Servants International (ESI). That study has led them to recognize the need to be actively involved in evangelism – but they did not know what to do or how to go about it. Members of the ESI group said this was the perfect timing of the Holy Spirit for what they have had on their hearts. They plan to use CE and what they learned at the conference.

Billy found a significant demand for more training materials. “I’m going to need to print 10,000 copies of the gospel of Mark just for Chile. I’m very excited about that as you can imagine.”

Billy is grateful for how the Lord is using the training and materials.
